Max Verstappen Extends Red Bull Formula 1 Deal Until 2030

Four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has signed a new Red Bull contract that will keep him with the team until the end of 2030, ending speculation over his future in the sport.

Red Bull announced the extension on Thursday, describing it as “four more years of full send” and a statement of mutual trust and ambition. The agreement arrives as preparations build for Verstappen’s home race, the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, where the news is set to be welcomed by the driver’s large contingent of orange-clad supporters.

The commitment gives Red Bull long-term clarity around the driver who helped define one of Formula One’s most dominant periods. Verstappen won four consecutive world championships beginning in 2021 and has become one of the sport’s most successful drivers.

Red Bull and Verstappen extend a landmark partnership

In its announcement, Red Bull said the new deal was about more than continuing an already successful alliance. The team said it represented a shared decision to shape the future together.

Verstappen, 28, said he remained motivated by the prospect of helping the team return to the front. “We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again,” he said.

He also underlined the personal connection he feels to the team. “I have always said it: The team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home,” Verstappen said. “I came to the team hoping to be able to win races. What we went on to achieve together has been simply lovely.”

The extension follows a season in which results have been more difficult to secure for Verstappen and Red Bull. The Dutch driver failed to see a chequered flag in the first half of the year and was sixth in the drivers’ championship, while the uncompetitive nature of the team’s car prompted discussion about whether he could move elsewhere or even leave Formula One.

Instead, the new agreement keeps Verstappen at Red Bull through 2030 and places the focus on rebuilding the team’s winning form. For Red Bull, retaining a driver with four world titles provides a significant statement of continuity after months of uncertainty around his future.

Home-race focus turns to Zandvoort

The announcement adds further attention to the final edition of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Verstappen was unbeaten in the first three races held at his home circuit after it returned to the Formula One calendar in 2021.

More recently, however, he has been chasing McLaren at Zandvoort, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri winning the last two editions. Verstappen is expected to wear a special helmet inspired by blue Delft pottery for the occasion.

The Dutch Grand Prix promoters opted not to continue racing at Zandvoort, with uncertainty around Verstappen’s future cited as part of the backdrop given his importance to the event’s popularity. His decision to extend with Red Bull therefore provides a timely boost ahead of the race, even as the circuit prepares for its last Formula One weekend.

For Verstappen and Red Bull, the contract announcement settles the immediate question of where their partnership is heading. The next task is to turn that long-term commitment into a return to the results that made their previous years together so successful.
